HALL OF FAME


PREAMBLE

The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to honour, pay tribute to and perpetuate the names of those men and women who have contributed to the growth and welfare of the great game of tenpin bowling and our Association by their bowling ability, meritorious service in an administrative capacity or other contributory service to the sport.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

ARTICLE I - NAME

The name shall be established as The Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association Hall of Fame and shall be referred to, hereafter as “the Hall”.

ARTICLE II - CATEGORIES

There shall be three categories under which persons may be elected to “The Hall”.
1. Distinguished Performance on the Lanes.
2. Meritorious Service in an Administrative Capacity.
3. Contributors to the Sport.

ARTICLE III - ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Section (i) - Election to "The Hall" in categories 1 and 2, above, shall be open only to individuals who are, or have been, members of the Greater Toronto Women's Bowling Association or the Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association and who meet the eligibility requirements hereinafter set out.

Election to "The Hall" in category 3, above, shall be open to any individual not necessarily a member of either of the above mentioned Associations who meets the eligibility requirements for this category hereinafter set out.

Section (ii) - To be eligible for election to "The Hall" in the Distinguished Performance on the Lanes category, an individual must have documented record of distinguished performance on the lanes in ABC, WIBC/USBC and CTF sanctioned league and/or tournament play, and shall have been a member of the Greater Toronto Women's Bowling Association or the Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association for a period of not less than 15 years (not necessarily consecutive). Such individual also must have competed in at least 10 local association annual
championship tournaments. Games bowled in junior competition at the league and tournament levels are excluded in this category.

Section (iii) - To be eligible for election to "The Hall" in the Meritorious Service category, an individual must have a documented record of outstanding administrative service to the Greater Toronto Women's Bowling Association, the Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association, the Greater Toronto Junior Bowling Association, the Ontario Tenpin Bowling Association, the Ontario Provincial Women's Bowling Association, the Ontario Provincial Tenpin Bowling Association, the Ontario Provincial Junior Bowling Association, the Canadian Tenpin Federation or the board of directors of the Women's International Bowling Congress or the American Bowling Congress over a period of not less than 15 years (not necessarily consecutive) as a member of one or the other of the Associations specified in section (i) of this Article.

The above-mentioned organizations are listed in their order of importance for selection purposes, but any or all of them may have been served.

Section (iv) - To be eligible for election to "The Hall" in the Contributor to the Sport category an individual must have worked for, promoted or contributed in any other way to the betterment of our game and our Associations over a period of at least 15 years (not necessarily consecutive).

Section (v) - No individual who is, or ever has been, under suspension by ABC, WIBC/USBC and CTF shall be eligible for election to "The Hall" at any time.

ARTICLE IV - NOMINATIONS

Nominations for election to "The Hall" may be made by any member in good standing of either of the Associations specified in Article III, section (i).

Such nominations shall be submitted in writing in a sealed envelope, together with a resume of the achievements of the nominee, to the chairperson of the election committee of the Association. Such nominations shall be in the hands of the election committee chairperson not later than May 1st of any year, in order to be eligible for election in the same calendar year. Envelopes containing such nominations shall be clearly marked as such.

Posthumous nominations are always acceptable, but all nominations posthumous or otherwise must be submitted as indicated in the above paragraph.

ARTICLE V - ELECTION COMMITTEE

The election committee for the association, specified in Article III, section (i), shall be appointed by the President of the association. The committee shall consist of five (5) members, including the chairperson, and not more than two (2) of which shall be designated from the Board of Directors. The remaining members of the committee shall be Association Life Members, Association Hall of Fame members (when available) or other qualified persons as required.

When the committee chairperson has received all nominations dated on or before May 1st of any given year, he or she shall arrange for a meeting of the election committee to be conducted to consider the credentials of all nominees. A vote by closed ballot shall determine which nominees shall be elected to "The Hall".

The association shall be permitted to elect a maximum of five (5) nominees annually irrespective of categories. It shall not be mandatory to elect a nominee every year.

The names of all eligible nominees who are not elected, shall be dropped from the list of nominees, but may resubmit their credentials at some future date. If any nominees are rejected, the nominators shall be advised, in writing.

The names of the electees shall be submitted to the Association Manager no later than June 1st of each year for inclusion in the annual year book and the official induction(s) into "The Hall" shall take place at the Annual Awards and Hall of Fame Presentation.

ARTICLE VI – MANAGEMENT

The management of "The Hall" shall be the responsibility of the Hall of Fame Committee, which shall review the Rules and Regulation for election to "The Hall" annually. The election committee shall be empowered to recommend amendments to the Hall of Fame Committee, which, in turn, shall discuss and recommend such amendments, along with any of their own, for adoption or rejection, to the Board of Directors.

A majority vote by the Board of Directors shall be required to adopt any amendment submitted, whether, such amendment be recommended for adoption or rejection by the Hall of Fame Committee. Adoption by the Board of Directors shall be required, otherwise the amendment must be deemed to have been rejected.

ARTICLE VII – LOCATION

"The Hall" shall be located on the Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association website.

ARTICLE VIII - AWARDS

The awards to be presented to both men and women inducted in "The Hall" shall be the same.

The awards shall consist of a suitable wall plaque with the inductees name, date of induction (month and year) and category engraved thereon and a lapel pin designating the inductee as a member of "The Hall". The pin shall be designed with a distinctive logo with the words "GTTBA Hall of Fame Member" arranged in an appropriate manner around the logo.
