RICHARD F. DOUCETTE

(1933 - 2021)

Richard Doucette was born in New Brunswick and has been a member of the Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association for over 40 years.

Richard joined the Board of the Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association as a Director in 1988. In 1995 he was elected Second Vice-President and held that position for four years, then served four years as First Vice-President. Two years after Richard joined the Board he became interested in the awards and with the help of Harry Beatty he quickly learned the procedure. There were over 10,000 members in the Men’s Association then. For the past 22 years he has faithfully devoted many hours of his time to ensure all the leagues receive their awards on time. Richard also helps in the office with phone calls and sanctions. He has served on numerous committees, including the Annual Meeting and the tournaments, and he is still actively involved in our Association, helping wherever he is needed.

For many years previous to his involvement with the G.T.T.B.A. Richard, serving as Secretary Treasurer, and his wife assisted in running a youth bowling league at O’Connor Bowl West. He was also involved at the league level, serving as Secretary for a men’s league at O’Connor Bowl West and a league at Brunswick Mississauga.

Richard has participated in over 20 GTTBA Local Association Tournaments and has attended several Provincial Meetings. From 2009 to 2012 he was elected a Delegate to attend the Canadian Tenpin Federal Annual General Meetings. His career high average is 174.

On May 10, 2008 Richard was made a Life Member of the Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association.

Richard has been blessed with three daughters, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

For Meritorious Service, The Hall of Fame is pleased to induct Richard Doucette.
