JOHN CHAPMAN

John Chapman was born in Toronto in July 1959. He has worked in the bowling industry for most of his adult life and since 1997 he has been the General Manager at Planet Bowl in Toronto.

John has been a member of the Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association for forty years and has some incredible stats. He has bowled 50 – 300 games, 4 of which were bowled on the PBA Tour and 1 in the Mixed Doubles Tournament last season, 4 – 299 games, 2 – 298 games and 8 – 800 series with the high being 826. Competing in both regular and Sport leagues, he has an 8 year Sport league composite average of 197. Over the last 10 years he has maintained a Toronto composite average of 223.5 with a single season high average of 229 in 2014.

During his 25 years competing in both our Annual Association Championship Tournament and the Ontario Provincial Tournament, he won Scratch Titles in both. He participated in fifteen 700 Club Tournaments and ten ABC/USBC National Tournaments. John has won the Scratch Division in the Mixed Doubles Tournament four times, including the 2016 tournament at Woodbridge when he rolled a perfect game.

John has participated in 23 PBA Senior National Tournaments and cashed in 19 with a best finish of third. In July 2014 in Hammond, Indiana, he defeated Norm Duke and Walter Ray Williams 3 games to 2 and 2 games to 1 respectively, averaging over 241 for the full 25 game tournament.

He has been a member of the Senior Team for Team Canada two times and represented Canada for the first time in the 2015 World Seniors in Las Vegas winning a Gold Medal in the All Events, a Silver Medal in the Doubles, and a Bronze Medal in both the Singles and Team Events.

John and his wife Darlene have been married for 35 wonderful years and are proud parents of one son, Patrick, who is also a bowler.

John has been on the GTTBA All Star Team numerous times.

For Distinguished Performance, the Hall of Fame is pleased to induct John Chapman.
