JOE W. CIACH

Joe Ciach was born in East York on October 7, 1966 and has been bowling for over thirty-five years. He has been a member of the Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association for twenty-two years and was Bowler of the Year in Hamilton in 1990.

During his 16 years competing in our Annual Association Championship Tournament, he won two Scratch Team Titles, four Scratch Doubles Titles and three Scratch All Events Titles. In 1996-1997 he won the 700 Club Tournament and six times he won the Mixed Doubles Scratch Tournament. He has bowled eight 300 games, one of which was bowled in the 2009 USBC Tournament and eight 800 series with a high of 822. Over the last five years he has maintained a 198 Sport league average.

He has been a member of Team Canada eight times and holds a 5 Game Canadian Record 1383 – 276.60 average and also an 8 Game Canadian Record 2103 – 262.87 average. In 2008 he came first in the Provincial Round and third in the National Round of the World Cup. Joe’s excellent bowling also won him a spot on the TSN show eight times and in 2004 he won the event and came second in 2005.

His bowling career has taken him to Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Argentina, Thailand, North Korea, Amsterdam, Ireland, United Arab Emirates and throughout the U.S. For eight years Joe participated in the USBC Tournament. In the Commonwealth Championships in Ireland he came third in Masters, third in Team, fourth in Doubles and Singles and fifth in Mixed Doubles. Joe won a Silver Medal in Team at the FIQ Zones in Dominican in 1997, came fourth in Doubles at the FIQ Zones in Argentina in 2001 and won a Silver Medal in Doubles at the FIQ Zones in Guatemala in 2006. In 1999 in the WTBA World Tenpin Team Cup he came fifth. He was the Brunswick Shoot-Out Champion in 2006 and won the Super Hoinke Sweeper in 2002 and 2003. In the Greater Miami Invitational in 1995 he won a Gold Medal in Doubles, setting a doubles record of 5397, and also won a Gold Medal in All Events. He won a Gold Medal in Singles in the Tournament of the Americas in 1998 and won a Silver Medal for Team and a Silver Medal for All Events in 2000.

Joe has been our Bowler of the Year six times and has been on the GTTBA All Star Team numerous times.

For Distinguished Performance, the Hall of Fame is pleased to induct Joe W. Ciach.
