EILEEN SCOCCIA-BROWN

Eileen Scoccia-Brown (nee Annis), a Toronto native, has been a member of the Greater Toronto Women’s Bowling Association for thirty-five years.

Eileen served as Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the GTWBA and in 1971 became the first Merit Award recipient of the Greater Toronto Women’s Bowling Association for Performance on the Lanes.

Eileen competed in 15 GTWBA City Tournaments winning the All-Events Scratch category in 1970 and 1971. In the 1971-72 season she was the Queens Tournament “A” Division winner and has also won the Toronto “600” Club Tournament.

Eileen was the High Average award winner in 1972 and is a member of the exclusive 700 club shooting a 723 series. She has a 277 on the record and last season (1994-95) she rolled a 289.

In 1966 she was one of six Toronto women bowlers who participated on two teams at the Canada-USA Friendship Matches. In 1970-71 she was a member of the Canadian Team competing in the FIQ where she placed fifth.

Eileen has competed in ten Ontario Provincial Tournaments winning the Scratch Division in that tournament as well. In league play Eileen was a member of a team with an average of 932. Other members of that amazing team included Hall of Famer Alma Wilson, Gert Smykowski, Shirley Bryant, Joy Collett and Mary Ebata. That team challenged such American Professional Teams as Pepsi, 7-Up, and Vernor’s and consistently came home as winners. Together they also bowled in the Open Division at WIBC Tournaments and always managed to bring home ‘the cash’.

An AMF-AJBC Instructor, Eileen has a ten-year composite average of 185 and is still in the top five percent of our bowlers. In the 1992-93 season she had a 177 average and is still going strong, recording a 174 average for the 1994-95 season.
