ALMA WILSON

Alma has been a member of the Greater Toronto Women’s Association for 35 years and has participated in 30 Local Association Tournaments and collected 2 championships.

She began her bowling career in 1948 in Oklahoma City where she played on a Ladies professional softball team.

Alma has a 10 year composite average of 178 with a high game of 269 and a high series of 723.

In 1963, Alma finished 6th in the WIBC Queen’s Tournament.

In 1964, Alma bowled her first 700 series, 716, which made her the first member of the Toronto Women’s Association to be eligible to bowl in the Men’s 700 Club Tournament.

Also in 1964, she qualified to bowl in the World Invitational Match Championships in Chicago. Also this year she became the first Canadian woman to join the Professional bowlers ranks.

Alma set a Canadian record in 1983-84 season when she bowled a 4 game 963 series.

Competing in the inaugural Masters Games in Toronto, 1985, Alma finished first in her division and went on to win the step ladder final.

In 1987 Alma won the Provincial Seniors Tournament and represented Ontario at the ABC/WIBC National Seniors Tournament in Niagara Falls, New York.

Alma is also a member of the Oklahoma Softball Hall of Fame.
