Joyce N. Woolgar

Joyce was born in the Windsor area, and prior to coming to Toronto in 1969, she spent 5 years in London. She now lives in Norval, Ontario with her spouse of 48 years, Ken Woolgar.

Joyce worked as a General Accountant for the carrier Air Conditioning Company for 7 years. A sanctioned bowler for 51 years, she has been a member of the Greater Toronto Women’s Bowling Association for 29 years. Joyce served on the Toronto Association board of Directors for 10 years. She was first Vice-President for 2 years and Secretary for 3 years.

She served as Director of the Ontario Provincial Women’s Bowling Association for 2 years and spent 14 years on the CTF Board, serving as the Second Vice-President for 8 years and the Treasurer for 5 years.

Joyce has been President of the Ontario Tenpin Bowling Council for 18 years. As a Charter member she co-ordinated the formation of the Bowling Council.

Joyce has received many honours over the years. In May of 1991, she was inducted into the Ontario Provincial Women’s Bowling Association hall of Fame for Meritorious Service. She received the OPWBA Appreciation Award for her service as Ontario CTF Director in 1986 and she has received the GTWBA Certificate of Appreciation and is Life Member of CTF.

In 1994 Joyce was awarded the Ontario Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Recreation Special Achievement Sports Award for her work as a volunteer.
