James Brace

Jim Brace was born in Wales and grew up in Hamilton.

His connection with our Association commenced in 1961 when he was appointed manager of a new centre in Barrie.  He remained there for two years and then moved on to Toronto where he held many position with All Canada Bowl and Bowlerama Limited.

Jim is a charter member of the Canadian Professional Bowlers Association and is a past president.  He formed the Canadian All Star Association in 1963.

Jim was elected a Life member of the Greater Toronto Tenpin Bowling Association in 1978 and was presented with the Greater Toronto Women’s Association Merit Award in 1979.

Jim was a member of the AMF Advisory Staff from 1958 to 1978.

A strong supporter of youth bowling, Jim taught the sport in all levels of the school system, elementary, secondary and college, as part of the Physical Education Program.

Apart from his promotional and coaching activities, Jim was a very good bowler as he was the Toronto Masters Champion in 1962, was a three time Provincial Champion, was captain of the 1965 Canadian Team Champions and also represented Canada at the Tournament of the America.  He has a high series of 783, a high game of 298 and a high average of 206.
